Cast members are eligable for Boons just like Characters. Since this creates an extra set of cards for the Gamemaster to keep track of I have created shortcut cards for GM's to use. The cards are provided free for GM's to download and use. The cards are combined Boons to put on cast members without having to have each card with the cast member. The Stats on the cards are the combined Stats from the Boons that are listed on them in the card text area. The Non-Guild sheet uses the rules for Boons in the Original/Classic Dragon Storm rules. GM's running Classic DS fantasy games should add Boon cards to cast members to balance her games. The Guild sheets use the Guild rules for Boons and create more powerful cast members than available in the classic games. The Guild cards are based on the Card Points of the involved cast members. Mark's Comentary: In fantasy games we often overlook the worlds progress. A good campaign is based in a living, growing world that is always changing. The cast members have a life that only the Gamemaster sees in its entirety. As the cast members travel through their fantasy lives they gain Boons, just like the characters do. Some of these cast members are good, some bad and some are truly evil. When the characters interact with them these cast members need to present a viable challenge for the characters. One way a GM can do that is to give the cast members all of the benefits of the world. In this case I have created a set of Dragon Storm cards that easily provide Boons to the Cast members to assist the gamemasters role-play complete cast members. |
